In my opinion, nothing beats a great book. A great book can make you a better person. A great book can change your life. A great book can be the best investment you ever make.

Great books are everywhere, that is, if you know where and how to find them.

I’ve been asked numerous times ‘how do you find great books?’. So, here are 5 simple ways to help you find great books…

Find out what others read

If I like someone’s content one of the first things I’ll do (because I’m weird), is find out what books they’ve loved reading. The chances are if you enjoy someone’s content, you’re going to enjoy the same books as them too.

For example, here are a few people I admire who have great reading lists:

I would highly recommend them!

Check the bibliography

If you enjoyed reading a book, check the bibliography. The chances are you’ll enjoy reading the books the author lists in there as references. It’s a tip I learnt from Ryan Holiday and I have been putting it into good practice. Turns out the bibliography has a good use after all!

Check Goodreads

Goodreads is a huge community of book readers from all around the world. There are thousands upon thousands of books reviewed on Goodreads and within a few clicks you’re able to find an abundance of great books suited for you.

Check out the all time classics

If a book is old but is still selling thousands of copies, then more often than not it’s going to be a great book. For example, books such as 1984, Meditations and The Catcher in the Rye are all old books what still sell extremely well and I loved them all.

Just READ!

You never know if a book is going to be any good if you don’t pick up and read it in the first place. Don’t procrastinate about reading a book, just read it! Not every book is going to be great, but you’ll never know how good it is until you try giving it a read in the first place. As the old saying goes, don’t judge a book by it’s cover.

These are just a few ways I find useful to help me find great books, hopefully they can be of use to you too.

See you next time,

Yours Sincerely,

Tom
